Shot Beagle In Hamilton County Needs Emergency Foster Care
Hello Indiana-PAW Foster Parents & Volunteers,
We have an emergency, time-sensitive request for assistance
tonight from the Humane Society of Hamilton County. I'll let
Rebecca Stevens, the Executive Director of the Humane Society
of Hamilton County, explain:
Amy,
I don't know what it is with the animal cruelty cases over the
last month or so.
Animal Control contacted me regarding a Beagle that someone
shot totally shattering one of its legs. The vet is waiting for
me to make a call on whether or not I want to amputate the
leg or save it. They think the leg can be saved, but it will
require some intensive after care that I cannot provide here at
the shelter. Saving the leg means inserting a pin and using a
device on the outside of the leg to keep it in place for 8 to 10
weeks. This dog would have to go into immediate foster care
in order to heal. Unfortunately, I have to make a decision on
this tomorrow as they are simply keeping him comfortable with
pain meds until we decide which way to go.
I would like to save his leg and I know I can raise the money to
do so. The key is having a foster home on MONDAY that can
take him. Let me know if you have any prospects.
Thanks
Rebecca
