Shot Beagle Has Bright Future, Thanks To You!
Hello Indiana-PAW Constituents,
Well - you've done it
again! You've answered the Indiana-PAW call for help for a Hoosier
animal in need, and in so doing, you've helped put a beagle who was
shot onto a very happy new path. Within 24 hours of our plea for
help for the shot beagle at the Humane Society for Hamilton County,
we received more than 15 offers of assistance from readers of the
Indiana-PAW e-newsletter. As a result, the little beagle will have
his leg saved, will then go into foster care, and then no doubt be
adopted to a forever home! We'll let Rebecca Stevens, the Executive
Director of the Humane Society of Hamilton County, provide the
update:
Amy,
I believe we've found a solution for
this little guy. I'm going to work with Houndsong Beagle/Coonhound
Rescue out of Chicago [the first rescue agency to respond to
Indiana-PAW's plea]. With their expertise on the breed and a
database of over 500 Beagle lovers, I think they're best suited to
care for him and find him a permanent home.
Because there
have been so many folks responding to this, would you mind sending
out an update to your [Indiana-PAW] database that we do have
someone in place to take him but that we so appreciate everyone's
willingness to help. I've tried responding to everyone
individually but I don't want to miss anyone.
If
anyone is interested in sending donations to help cover the cost
of his treatment (estimated at $1,000), they can send those
to:

Note in the memo: Beagle Medical
Fund
THANK YOU!
Rebecca
As a wonderful post-script to this
story, as a result of the amazing response from Indiana-PAW
constituents, Rebecca tells us that her shelter also had a Bluetick
Coonhound come in yesterday with a broken leg, and thanks to all the
responses, she's already lined up a foster home for him! Indiana-PAW
supporters - YOU ROCK!
One last important note: this
beagle is just one of thousands of animals who desperately need
foster care in Indiana. So, if you haven't joined the Indiana-PAW
Foster Roster already, we'd love to see more join and help out dogs
and cats regularly that require this type of assistance. You can
join by clicking
here.
Thanks again to everyone who stepped forward to
help out this sweet, little beagle. You're all amazing!
And thanks to all of YOU for all you do for Indiana animals!
