Road Trip: Indiana-PAW Covers State, Brings Back News To
You!
 Take me home country roads.
| Friends,
Indiana-PAW has spent the
past month out on the open highways and back country roads of
Indiana. Why, you ask? Because, we're creating a video designed to
inspire citizens in every corner of Indiana to get involved in
efforts to help homeless Hoosier pets. Our recent video-shoot stops
have brought us into contact with many shelters, rescue groups,
businesses and individuals, and they've asked us to pass along the
following news and opportunities to you, so that YOU can be a hero
to homeless animals in Indiana:
Tell Congress To Put An End To Animal Fighting
Casa
Del Torro Bully Breed Rescue & Education, a valued
Indiana-PAW partner, has asked us to implore you to tell your
legislators to support the Animal Fighting Prohibition Enforcement
Act. This Act (S. 261/H.R. 137) would make it a felony to transport
an animal across state or international borders for animal fighting
(dog fighting, cockfighting), and would prohibit the interstate and
foreign commerce in knives and gaffs designed for use in cockfights.
The U.S. House approved the bill by a landslide vote on March 26th,
and the Senate is expected to vote very soon. Click
here to learn how you can take action to help this critical
legislation move forward.
Hoosier Dog Goes From Animal Shelter To
Hollywood!
 Scooby Doodle Goes To Hollywood!
| Recently, Indiana-PAW visited
with Deb McWhorter, the Indiana representative for the National
Brittany Rescue and Adoption Network (NBRAN). Deb invited us to
bring our "video road show" to her home, to capture footage of the
wonderful Brittany Spaniels whom she is fostering for NBRAN. While
we were there, she shared the marvelous story of a dog named Scooby
Doodle, who was pulled from a Gibson County, Indiana animal shelter
and wound up in Hollywood, where he is now being trained to be a
"movie dog!!" Click
here to read the heartwarming story, which is a wonderful
reminder of how our lives can change in a moment for the better!
Pet Supplies "Plus" Offers Free Service To Animal Welfare
Agencies Pet
Supplies "Plus" has asked Indiana-PAW to help get the word out
that they are providing a service at two of their Indianapolis-area
stores at no charge to animal welfare agencies. Specifically, at the
Pet Supplies "Plus" stores in Noblesville and Greenwood, qualified
animal welfare groups and their volunteers may use the
Do-It-Yourself Dog Wash (which normally costs $10.00 per dog) for
FREE, upon receiving FREE USE coupons. This service includes
everything but the dirty dog, and the person washing the dirty dog!

Can You Be A Hero For One Of These Animals?
Jake, before his surgery, with Leslie Fautam,
IACC's Administrator. | Jake
From Indy Animal Care & Control Needs A Forever
Home! Calling all tender-hearted people . . . Indy
Animal Care & Control (IACC), has asked Indiana-PAW to put
out a plea far and wide for a forever home for a special needs dog
named Jake. Jake is a 7-9-year old, male neutered Jack Russell
terrier, who came to IACC after his owner was unable to pay for
veterinary care for his eye. Thanks to donations, Jake's bad eye was
removed (and he's blind in the other eye, so he has no vision). Jake
has been recovering from his surgery in a loving foster home with a
cat and a greyhound, and gets around the house with no problem,
jumps on and off the couch at will, walks on a leash, and goes potty
outside. Jake may not be able to see, but he knows how to love, and
is a major snuggle-bug. He's looking for a permanent home in a calm
environment, and preferably (smile) no stairs. If you are interested
in adopting Jake, please contact Leslie
G. Fatum, IACC's Administrator.
 Angel needs a home.
| Wonderful Dogs At Heller's
Angels Recently, Indiana-PAW went to Poland, Indiana to visit
with a rescue agency called "Heller's
Angels." This is a small agency working very hard with limited
resources, and we wanted to issue a special plea to our readers to
consider (a) volunteering at Heller's Angels, (b) donating supplies
to Heller's Angels, or (c) adopting one of the more than 20
wonderful dogs available at Heller's Angels. Indiana-PAW's Executive
Director, Amy Van Ostrand, and Indiana-PAW Board Member Ash Lewin,
had the opportunity to interact with every adoptable dog at Heller's
Angels, and these dogs are some of the sweetest, most
well-socialized dogs we've ever met. One of our favorite dogs
available for adoption is Angel, who has been awaiting adoption for
more than a year. Please take a moment and visit Heller's
Angel's website, and consider what, if anything, you can do to
help dogs like Angel.
 Penny needs help.
| Penny From Volunteers For Animal
Welfare Needs Help! Volunteers
For Animal Welfare (VFAW) is in need of a foster home or forever
home for a sweet little dog named Penny. VFAW originally pulled
Penny from a shelter in Franklin County, and Penny was adopted in
late December. Her family has decided they cannot keep her, as they
did not realize how much work a puppy would be, and so she is
homeless once again. Penny is about 6 months old, and a major
sweetie pie. If you can help, please e-mail Paula
Brock, founder of VFAW.
