Required Reading; Free Pet Food; Low-Cost Micrchipping; And
One Great Volunteer
Indiana-PAW Friends,
Hopefully, today's rain isn't
dampening your mood too much. We want to pass along four items of
note tonight . . .
Required Reading: "One At A Time: A Week In An American
Animal Shelter" Recently, Indiana-PAW board
members became aware of a book that we believe may be the most
beautiful and, arguably, important book on animal welfare ever
produced. It's called One
At A Time: A Week In An American Animal Shelter.
This is
a profoundly moving book written by two former shelter workers that
chronicles the stories of all the animals who passed through a
California animal shelter over a week-long period, including those
who are adopted, those who are reunited with their owners, and yes,
those who are euthanized because there are no homes for them. This
book provides a superb overview of the tragedy of the pet
overpopulation problem, and what EACH OF US CAN DO to stop it. If
you've ever loved an animal, you must read this beautifully moving,
haunting book. One last note: Indiana-PAW would love to be able to
distribute copies of this book to media and schools across the
State. If you would like to help underwrite the purchase of copies
of this book to help us do this, please click here.

At A Time.
Low-Cost Microchipping On April 8th Our good
friends at Circle City Animal Allies wanted us to pass along
information about a wonderful microchipping event. On April 8th, you
can have your pet microchipped for just $15 from 1-3pm at the
PETCO at 7225 N. Keystone Avenue. This includes free lifetime
registration and updates, and a free ID tag for your pet's collar.

Rally To Rescue - Free Pet Food! One of our valued partners, Love of Labs
Indiana (LOLIN), asked us to help publicize a wonderful program for
shelters and rescue organizations. Rally to Rescue is a
partnership of Purina Pro Plan brand pet food and select pet rescue
organizations across the country, dedicated to raising funds and
awareness for homeless animals. Rescue organizations may apply to
become Rescue Ambassadors, and receive a range of financial,
promotional and event support, including free pet food for the
animals they house! If you're interested, you can contact Linda Acup
with Love of Labs (LOLIN) and she can talk to you more about the
benefits, and help direct you on how you too can benefit.
