i> | Friends,
Does
absence make the heart grow fonder? We at Indiana-PAW sure think so,
because we've MISSED you over the past two months! We've been tied
up hosting animal education booths in the community, entering the
final stages of our statewide "Heroes In The Heartland: Working For
Indiana's Homeless Pets" video project, and ramping up our foster
program that helps shelter animals. Tonight, we want to reach out
for the first time in a couple of months to say hello, to thank you
for your support, to share some news with you, and to remind you
that homeless Hoosier animals need your help now more than ever!
Come See Indiana-PAW This Saturday At Fishers Freedom
Festival Come hang out with
Indiana-PAW's staff and volunteers this Saturday, June 23rd, from
approximately 11 a.m. until 4 p.m., while we're hosting our animal
education booth at the Fishers
Freedom Festival! We'd love to talk with you about how YOU can
make a difference for homeless Hoosier pets, beginning right away.
We'd also love to answer any pet-related questions you have. You can
find our booth in Roy G. Holland Memorial Park in Fishers, just off
116th Street and Holland Drive. Holland Drive is located between
Allisonville Road and the I-69. There will be food, music, and the
National Dog Disc Championship Competition taking place!
New Educational Materials From Indiana-PAW Indiana-PAW's staff, led by our
new Education Coordinator, Carolyn
Valachovic-Monroe, has developed several new "Points
To PAWnder" educational flyers on topics ranging from (1) why
it's important to take your pet to the vet at least once a year, to
(2) how to plan a pet-friendly vacation, to (3) the pro's and con's
of electic fences for your yard. Click
here to enjoy the newest educational tools in our arsenal
against pet neglect/relinquishment!
We'd Like Your Feedback! Are you a general
Indiana-PAW volunteer, or an Indiana-PAW foster
parent? If so, we'd like to hear from you! Please take a moment
to visit our website and complete our online Volulnteer
& Foster Parent Survey. It will only take a moment, and will
enable us to continue to improve our operations. Thanks, guys!

Dog &
Cat Blood Donors Needed Indianapolis
Veterinary Emergency Center needs healthy and even-tempered dogs
and cats under 7 years of age to participate in the IVEC blood donor
program. This program enables IVEC to always have on hand life
saving blood products to supply to veterinarians throughout the
country. Dog and cats who donate blood receive a complimentary exam,
certain vaccines, heartworm testing, and other discounted services.
If you are interested in having your pets participate in this
life-saving program, please call Amy or Karrie at 317-782-4484, or
email service@indyvet.com.
Pet
Supplies "PLUS" Helps Animal Welfare Efforts One of Indiana-PAW's
most generous corporate supporters, Pet
Supplies "PLUS," continues to find creative ways to help Hoosier
pets. For example, Indy
Pit Crew and Pet Supplies "PLUS" recently hosted a microchipping
event where approximately 70 dogs were chipped, ensuring those dogs
will be far more likely to make it home should they ever become
lost. Also, Pet Supplies "PLUS" is working with Indianapolis
trainers to help encourage citizens to train their dogs, rather than
use "shock collars." Kudos to Nick Milano and Pet Supplies "PLUS"
for continuing to set the standard for pet supplies stores with a
focus on animal welfare!
Uplifting Updates!
 Meistro | Meistro
Finds A Home Through Indiana-PAW! Meistro
the dog (pictured left), from the Humane
Society of Putnam County, found a home when his Indiana-PAW
foster parent, Pam Cox, decided to permanently adopt him! That's
what we call great news!
 Titan | Titan Gets
A Helping Hand After A Fire Titan
(pictured right), a 5 year-old American Stafforshire Terrier, was
left homeless when a house fire forced his family to move to a place
where they can't have pets. But Last
Chance Rescue took him in, and now Indiana-PAW
foster parent Jenny Frew is offering him lifesaving foster care
until he finds a permanent home. Way to go,
Jenny!
Indiana-PAW Helps Bring A Missing Pet Home
Thanks to advice posted on Indiana-PAW's
bulletin boards, another Hoosier pet has come home to their
family. A link about a new online classified with lost & found
listings allowed Shannon Bahler to find the owners of a beautiful
black lab that she found. "I tried out the link, and the very first
entry was from Zeus's owners," said Shannon. For more information on
what to do if you've lost or found a pet, click
here.
Indiana-PAW Continues To Reach Hoosiers
Thanks to our energized volunteer base, Indiana-PAW continues to
stay busy attending community
events where we can educate Hoosiers about how to be good
parents to their own pets, and how to help Indiana's staggering
population of homeless pets. Here are photos from a couple of recent
events:
