Dog Days Of Summer - Swimming In Indiana-PAW News!

Indiana-PAW Friends,

Is it hot enough for you? Well why don't you grab a glass of lemonade and cool off for a minute while you read some quick news blurbs from Indiana-PAW!

Prison Pups Need Your Help!

Klondike graduates and receives his diploma.
The New Castle Henry County Animal Shelter has a terrific program where they send a handful of dogs from their shelter to a local prison, where inmates work with the dogs for 6 weeks. This program helps the offenders develop skills and character, and helps the dogs become more adoptable, and more likely to find forever homes, rather than be euthanized. The first class of three cell dogs has graduated, and so far, only one dog has found a home. The shelter is looking for either temporary foster homes or permanent homes for the remaining two dogs, Klondike (two year old Husky) and Duke (one year old Pit Bull mix). Both dogs are neutered, housebroken, fully vetted, negative for heartworm, and have had obedience training. In addition, the shelter is looking for ongoing short-term foster parents to help with this program. If you would like to adopt Klondike or Duke, or are willing to foster either of them, or any other cell dogs, please e-mail Dana Salkoski at the New Castle Henry County Animal Shelter.

Foster Parents Desperately Needed

Kittens fostered by Indiana-PAW volunteer Tracey Bruick.
Indiana-PAW is in desperate need of additional foster parents to support our flagship "Foster Roster" program, which loans Indiana-PAW foster parents to shelters and rescue groups across the State who need temporary homes for animals at risk for euthanasia. We receive near-daily requests from animal shelters who are forced to euthanize healthy animals due to a lack of space. Our current foster parents work tirelessly to help as many of these at-risk animals as possible, but they cannot keep up with the deluge of requests we receive. Please consider becoming an Indiana-PAW foster parent today by clicking here.

Transport Coordinators Still Needed

Indiana-PAW volunteer Connor Fraser helps transport dogs for Henry County shelter.
Indiana-PAW still needs Transport Coordinators to assist us in expanding our animal transport program. Through our program, our volunteers transport animals from shelters where they're at risk for euthanasia to rescue groups and other shelters with space on the adoption floor. Recently, we have gathered additional supplies needed to transport animals (e.g., leashes, crates). However, we are still looking for Transport Coordinators to oversee the distribution of these supplies for. Please click here to read an overview of what we need, prepared by Indiana-PAW volunteer Jan Myer.

[Your Name Could Be Here] Pet Of The Week Program

Indiana-PAW featured adoptable Pet Of The Week: Tulley.
Indiana-PAW is looking for a corporate sponsor for one of our most popular programs: our Pet Of The Week program. Through this program, we feature the photos and detailed biographies of pets who are available for adoption at shelters and rescue agencies across Indiana. This week, we're featuring a handsome Bassett/Beagle mix named Tulley, and an affectionate shorthair Tabby cat named Daniel - both of whom are available for adoption through Countryside Animal Rescue, based in Anderson. Petlane, a pet product specialty store, recently signed on as the named corporate sponsor for the Indiana-PAW "Super Database," and now Indiana-PAW is looking for a named corporate sponsor for its Pet Of The Week Program. Click here to learn how your company can become the named sponsor of this popular program that benefits homeless pets!

And thanks to all of YOU for all you do for Indiana animals!
