Indiana-PAW Needs Help With Kitten Project

Indiana-PAW Friends,

We at Indiana-PAW are working with the good people at IndyFeral on a very special lifesaving project, and need your immediate help if we are to complete it.

On Friday, Indiana-PAW was contacted by a caring citizen in Connersville, Indiana, who desperately needed help getting emergency medical treatment for a group of orphaned kittens who recently began living on her property. As the photo to the right demonstrates, some of the kittens are so sick that their eyes have turned white and are popping out with serious, potentially life-threatening infection. The citizen who contacted us was recently widowed, and didn't have the financial means or transportation necessary to get the cats help. But she was industrious enough to find Indiana-PAW on the internet.

So, Indiana-PAW jumped into action Friday, and put the citizen in touch with IndyFeral, who graciously agreed to get several of the most critically ill kittens into surgery today for eye-removal and other treatment. Then, Amy Van Ostrand, Indiana-PAW's Executive Director, and Joe Laughlin, Indiana-PAW's Foster Program Director, made a pre-dawn 4-hour pilgrimage from Carmel to Connersville this morning to pick up the four sickest kittens and drive them back to the IndyFeral medical clinic in Indianapolis, where the kittens are undergoing surgery as we speak.

By the end of the day, we anticipate IndyFeral will have spayed/neutered all 4 kittens, and removed the severely infected eyes on two of them. Then, Amy and Joe from Indiana-PAW will make the long journey back to Connersville with the kittens tonight, where the citizen will assist them with recovery.

Once this is accomplished, Indiana-PAW would like to assist the citizen in transporting at least 10 additional kittens to IndyFeral for spay/neuter surgery and treatment. This will end the suffering of this group of kittens, reduce the chance that these kittens will become carriers of diseases to other cats, and will prevent these kittens from themselves having kittens, and adding to Indiana's staggering pet overpopulation crisis. In short, this project will be a positive step for the community, as well as the kittens at issue, and, much like the story of Clint, will serve as a hopeful reminder that, while we cannot save every animal, we must try to save every one that we can.

Now, here's where we need your help. IndyFeral is providing these 4 kittens with treatment that would cost between $700.00 - $1,000.00 at a veterinarian's office. That is to say nothing of the additional 10 kittens that Indiana-PAW would like to transport to IndyFeral. Please, please consider making a donation to Indiana-PAW TODAY, using your credit card, via our online PayPal feature. This will enable Indiana-PAW to make a donation to IndyFeral this afternoon, when we pick up the kittens, to offset the lifesaving services they're providing. It will also enable us to get the remaining 10 kittens treatment. When you complete the PayPal form, simply type "Kitten Fund" in the "Payment For" box at the top of the screen.

Thank you, each of you, who agrees to step up to the plate to help with this special kitten project.

And thanks to all of YOU for all you do for Indiana animals!
