Autumn Harvest Of Indiana-PAW News
Indiana-PAW Friends,
We hope you're enjoying this
beautiful Fall weather. Tonight, Indiana-PAW brings you an update on
a story you've been following recently, along with several new items
of note.
Update On "Connersville Kitten Project"
 This is one of the
kittens rescued in Connersville. FONT>
| As you know, recently, Indiana-PAW,
IndyFeral,
HELP
The Animals, Inc., Cat's
Haven, and Tails
A Waggin' Rescue joined forces to assist a large group of
neglected animals in Connersville, Indiana. By way of update, 31
live cats and kittens and 3 live dogs have been moved from their
poor conditions in Connersville to several local shelters and rescue
agencies, and are attempting to recover from the conditions they
were in. The conditions were so poor that three dead cats had to
also be removed from the home, and one kitten removed alive died
within 24 hours of the rescue. However, amazingly, the other 30 dogs
and 3 cats rescued have survived so far, and are slowly regaining
their health, with the aid of dedicated local animal welfare
agencies. Your financial donations are assisting the agencies
providing daily care to these animals. We have learned that some of
the agencies, however, could greatly benefit from donations of food,
litter, and other supplies, as well as volunteer cage cleaners, to
assist with the sudden influx of additional animals this project has
caused. If you are able to help, please
contact Indiana-PAW, and we will connect you with the
appropriate shelter administrators, who will tell you where you can
send your donations, supplies, and willingness to offer your
manpower. Thank you for your support -- more than 30 animals are
benefitting from it.
Please Attend Indianapolis City-County Council Meeting This
Tuesday Indy
Pit Crew has asked us to encourage all of you to please attend
the upcoming meeting of the Indianapolis City-County Council, Rules
and Public Policy Committee, on Tuesday, Oct 10, at 5:30 pm, in Room
260, of the City-County Building. On the agenda will be discussion
of Proposal 370, which was originally introduced as a "Dangerous Dog
Ordinance," but has since expanded in scope to include an
anti-tethering provision, a spay-neuter provision, and a
microchip provision, in addition to several other changes. Click
here to read a recent version of this ordinance proposal at the
Indygov website. Your presence at this meeting will be important to
let our lawmakers know that we are watching and following these
developments.
Seymour Needs A Foster Home
 Seymour with Indiana-PAW
volunteer Conner Fraser. FONT>
| Paula Brock, the founder of Volunteers
for Animal Welfare (a Cedar Grove, Indiana organization), has
reached out to Indiana-PAW for help for a wonderful dog named
Seymour (pictured at left). Seymour was left, along with 8 other
dogs, in a trailer park to die. Luckily for him, Paula's agency
learned about Seymour, and has been taking him food at the trailer
park, and had him neutered and vaccinated. However, Paula's
organization has not been able to find anyone willing to provide a
temporary foster home for Seymour, and so the poor dog is still
living in a trailer park, tied to a trailer. Seymour is about 3
years old, is neutered, is healthy, loves people (and is good with
kids), loves other dogs, and is very well behaved. His only downfall
is that he cannot be around cats, as he plays too roughly with
them, and will hurt them. Paula's agency has until the end of
October to get Seymour out of the trailer park, and if he's not out
by then, she says he will likely be euthanized. If you can foster
Seymour while Paula and her agency find him a permanent home, please
contact Paula
Brock with Volunteers For Animal Welfare.

Petfest Fall Adoption Day!
 Indiana-PAW at Petfest.
I> FONT> | Yesterday,
Indiana-PAW had the pleasure of being one of dozens of local animal
organizations to participate in Petfest Fall Adoption Day! This was
a wonderful adoption event put on by Hoosiers
Helping Homeless Pets, at which many animals from many local
shelters and rescue groups found loving adoptive homes. Two of the
dogs at Indiana-PAW's booth received many inquiries, and we are
hopeful one of them will lead to a permanent home in the next few
days! Thank you to our volunteers who helped!
Human "Surrendered" To Marion Grant County Humane Society
Goes Into "Foster Care" A few weeks ago,
Indiana-PAW told you about Cheryl Walker, a woman whose family
"surrendered" her to the Marion
Grant County Humane Society shelter in Marion, Indiana on
September 2nd. Cheryl spent the entire month of September at the
animal shelter, confined to a 4'x 7' kennel, in order to bring
attention to the urgent need to raise money to build a new animal
shelter (for $3 million), along with the plight of the animals at
the shelter. Last week, Cheryl left the shelter to go into "foster
care," where she will remain until she is "adopted," and the
remaining funds necessary are raised to build a new shelter. During
her stay at the shelter, more than $8000 was raised. Click
here to learn more about Cheryl's experience, and how you can
help. Indiana-PAW salutes Cheryl Walker!
