Indiana-PAW Pet Of The Week Sponsored By
Glacier
Breed: Labrador Retriever/Pitbull
Approximate Age: Adult (1-2 years old)
Spay/Neuter Status: Yes, Glacier is already spayed!
Vaccinations: Yes, Glacier is up-to-date on her immunizations and flea and heartguard preventatives.
Housetrained: We're not sure if Glacier is housetrained, but with the help of some of our experts, you can get Glacier housetrained in no time! Click here for great housetraining tips.
Compatibility With Children: Glacier is a big sweetheart who'd do well with children (although not little kids due to her size).
Compatibility With Other Pets: We're not show how Glacier does with other dogs or cats. Contact Morgan County Humane Society at 765-349-9177 for more information.
Personality: Have we said Glacier is a sweetheart already? She likes riding in the car. She's playful, friendly, and easygoing. The Humane Society has said that they see a lot of dogs, and that very few have tugged at their hearts like this girl. She's got a lot of love to give.
Ideal Home: Due to her disability, Glacier's ideal home will be one where she gets a lot of attention and love, especially initially. She will definitely need some training to help the two of you communicate due to her hearing impairment. A nice, fenced yard would be good too. Due to her special needs, a home check and references will be required.
To Adopt: If you'd like to adopt Glacier, please contact the Morgan County Humane Society at 765-349-9177 or visit their website online at www.mchumanesoc.org.
Dusty
Gender: Male
Breed: Miniature Poodle (25 lbs. - although he needs to lose 5 lbs.)
Approximate Age: 5 years old
Spay/Neuter Status: Yes, Dusty is neutered!
Vaccinations: Yes, Dusty is current on vaccinations, including rabies & Bordetella. He is heartworm negative and is currently on preventative. He also has a microchip and is currently on flea prevention.
Housetrained: Dusty is currently being crate trained and sleeps in his crate at night and when his foster parents are gone. He's not completely housebroken yet, but he's working on this really hard. His previous owner didn't make him go outside to use the potty, so this is a whole new ballgame for him, but we're sure he'll pick it up soon.
Compatibility With Children: Dusty is a wonderful companion, who would do well with older children.
Compatibility With Other Pets: Dusty is currently living with a foster family that has other dogs and cats. He's doing great with the dogs, but not so well with the cats. He would probably do best in a home without cats, because he keeps barking at them and trying to chase them all over the house :-)
Personality: Dusty loves toys, balls and anything that makes noise! He loves to go on leash walks with his foster dad. He's also a great lap dog who wants to go everywhere with you and sit on your lap all the time.
Ideal Home: Dusty will need to be around someone all the time, so if you're home all day or retired, that would be ideal! His original owner went into a nursing home, and they were always together and he misses her very much still. Right now, he's looking for someone that will love him just as much and give him lots of attention. Dusty should also go on a diet to lose about 5 pounds. He also requires a fenced in yard.
To Adopt: If you'd like to adopt Dusty, please contact Countryside Animal Rescue at 765-649-7944, or visit their website online at www.countrysideanimalrescue.org. You'll need to fill out an adoption application, schedule a home visit, and have references to adopt Dusty. An adoption donation for Dusty is $200.00 and transportation charges may apply depending on distance to travel for home visit.
