The Kinsey Street Dogs - From Neglect To Hope . . . Can You Adopt One Of Them?
Background: Some miracles don't just happen. They take someone stepping forward to make a wish come true. Nine dogs in Richmond, Indiana are looking for individuals who are willing to step forward and give them the miracle of a new life.
Indiana-PAW is assisting HELP the Animals, Inc., a no-kill, not-for-profit animal shelter in Richmond, to find homes for nine dogs - dubbed "The Kinsey Street Dogs" - who were rescued from an animal hoarder last October. Forty-two dogs were rescued from a home where they were living in unsanitary conditions, covered in fleas, and petrified of everyone. Even seasoned police and animal welfare volunteers were horrified at the conditions. HELP the Animals was able to take in eleven of the dogs, and have been healing them (both physically and emotionally) to prepare them for new lives. Two of the dogs have found homes, but nine are still waiting.
This is where you come in: 9 of these dogs are still available for adoption at HELP The Animals. Now is your opportunity to make a their wish come true by either adopting them, fostering them temporarily, or donating supplies for their care.
The following are short descriptions of some of the dogs:
Cinnamon: Named for his red fur, Cinnamon is the largest of the Kinsey Street dogs at 33lbs. Cinnamon was pretty sick, but a kindly vet gave him the medicine he needed to get well, and HELP The Animals nursed him back to health. Cinammon is feeling better now, and hoping that someone will take him home to love. |
Kerry: Kerry has never had love like most dogs have love, she has never had a new toy or a treat just for being a wonderful dog. She has never had a chance at life until now. She is looking for a home with loving people and lots of patience. Can you be her miracle?
Andy: Most of Andy's life has been spent indoors. He loves the time he gets to spend outside at HELP The Animals. When the weather is nice, he and his friends play outside all day long. If there's room in your heart and home for a small dog, please consider adopting Andy. |
Ike: Ike is a small dog who is frightened being at the shelter. If you can't adopt him forever, can you foster him and help him to begin to trust humans?
Big Daddy: Big Daddy is squeaky clean and ready for his new home! This big guy has been wormed, treated for fleas, vaccinated, and neutered. All he needs now is a loving home -- can you help him out?
Thomas: Thomas is very shy and meek. Thomas is looking for someone who will reassure him and have all the patience in the world for him. Please stop by and pet Thomas and see what kind of dog he is and if he could fit into your home.
