Indiana-PAW Pet Of The Week Sponsored By

Mimi

Mimi Background: Mimi's story is a sad one. Mimi was in a home with 4 other senior, small dogs. Her owner fell ill and could no longer care for them, and as so often happens in these situations, nobody else in the family wanted to do so and they were all taken to an animal shelter. Mimi was very frightened and her world has been turned upside down - but lucky for her, a rescue came and got all four of them, so she is now in a loving foster home. Mimi is now looking for her forever home that will provide her with the TLC and love she needs in her retirement years! She just needs a lap to retire on - could it be yours??

Gender: Female

Breed: Chinese Crested dog mix -- possibly with Poodle or Chihuahua

Approximate Age: 9 year old, but she still has a lot of spunk! And she's a little girl at only 6 lbs.!

Spay/Neuter Status: Yes, Mimi is spayed!

Vaccinations: Mimi is up to date on all medical, heartworm negative, and spayed.

Housetrained: Mimi is mostly housetrained and with consistency will do her business outside.

Compatibility With Children: Due to her size and frailness, she will not be placed in a home with children under 12 - no exceptions.

Compatibility With Other Pets: She loves other dogs - likes to play with other dogs her size, is good with cats and is pretty much a wonderful, laid back little angel.

Personality: Mimi is the perfect little lap dog. She wants to snuggle and feel secure. She likes to be with her person as much as possible and would be an excellent pet for a retired person or couple that can spend a lot of time with her. Mimi sleeps in bed with her foster parents at night, and won't have it any other way.

Ideal Home: Because of Mimi's breed, she is furry around her head, but she doesn't have much hair on her body. She gets cold easily - so a sweater in the cold months is a must have! She also requires extra attention to her skin in the form of lotion and supplements because she tends to get itchy. She'll require a securely fenced yard in her new home.

To Adopt: Mimi is available for adoption through Heaven Can Wait Rescue (located in Evansville, IN). Heaven Can Wait REQUIRES a securely fenced yard in her new home -- No exceptions. Plus a vet reference and home visit will be required for Mimi's adoption. If you think you might be able to give Mimi a loving, safe home, e-mail heavencanwaitrescue@yahoo.com for an application and more information. HopeBackground: Hope was brought to the Ohio County Animal Shelter (in Rising Sun, Indiana) back in September '05 with a few of her littermates. They have all been adopted, but Hope is still waiting for her forever family to find her. Hope is very smart, happy, playful and loving. She gets along well with all sizes of people and other dogs. She is on the large size - wieghing in at about 60 pounds. But that just means that there is more of Hope to love!

Gender: Female

Breed: Black Lab mixed with something furry

Approximate Age: 1 year

Spay/Neuter Status: Hope is not spayed, and will need to be spayed before she goes home.

Vaccinations: Hope is up-to-date with her vaccinations. She can be heartwormed checked at no cost prior to her adoption.

Compatibility With Children: Hope is very playful and loves humans, no matter what the size.

Compatibility With Other Pets: Hope gets along well with other dogs, but has never been tested around cats.

Personality: Hope has a wonderful personality. She will play all day with you and then snuggle up with you on the couch. Fun and loving - what more do you want?

Thumper - ADOPTED!

Thumper Background: Meet Thumper the Great! Thumper is a 10-year-old Jack Russell Terrier Mix that Rescue Farm brought back from Virginia after a transport to the East Coast with 81 dogs from Indiana Shelters on the CanINE Express. Rescue Farm was contacted by a rescue in Virginia in hopes we could take in a wonderful tiny little pooch who was days from being euthanized. Rescue Farm fell in love with his pictures and are determined to find a loving home for Thumper. Although he is blind, he learns his way around in a matter of days. And he's got plenty of love to give to whoever takes him into their lives!

Gender: Male

Breed: Jack Russell Terrier Mix

Approximate Age: 10 years old

Spay/Neuter Status:Yes, Thumper is neutered!

Vaccinations: Yes, Thumper is up-to-date on all vaccines, wormer, flea-preventative and heartworm tested negative! Thumper also just had his teeth cleaned and a few yucky teeth pulled. Now he is healthier and his breath is minty-fresh!

Housetrained: Yes, Thumper is housetrained and he's also crate-trained.

Compatibility With Children: Thumper is extremely affectionate, and would do well with children.

Compatibility With Other Pets: Thumper gets along great with dogs and cats as long as they aren't too aggressive with him. He will generally cower when played with too rough since he is blind.

Personality: Thumper is SO affectionate that you can say he is a "velcro dog" -- he just wants to be with you all the time! He loves people and loves attention and affection. He's just a very good boy looking for a loving home and someone who loves him unconditionally.

Ideal Home: Thumper would do well with most anyone. Ideally, he could be a family dog - he has lots of love and would love a family full of people to share it with. He would also do well with someone older who can help him "learn his way" since he has lost his sight.

To Adopt: To adopt Thumper, please contact Jodi at Rescue Farm (812-935-7077) in Ellettsville. You can also visit Rescue Farm's pets for adoption on the web at www.rescuefarm.org or contact Jodi by email at rescuefarm@blumarble.net.
