Bayley - ADOPTED!

BayleyBackground: Bayley is the unfortunate product of divorce. His previous owners are getting a divorce, and so he was brought to live at the Ohio County Animal Shelter (in Rising Sun, Indiana). He is very scared, sad and confused right now -- he doesn't know why he no longer has a home. Bayley is a wonderful dog. He is very timid and submissive around other dogs, loves to play with cats (but will never hurt them), was housetrained as a pup, is neutered and up to date on his shots. What more can you ask for? Please give Bayley a second chance.

Gender: Male

Breed: German Shepherd/Lab Mix

Approximate Age: 3 years old

Spay/Neuter Status: Yes, Bayley is already neutered!

Vaccinations: Yes, Bayley is up-to-date on all his vaccines!

Housetrained: Bayley was housetrained as a puppy, and just needs an easy reminder lesson to be retrained.

Compatibility With Children: Yes, Bayley does GREAT with children. He loves all people.

Compatibility With Other Pets: Bayley is submissive with other dogs. His best friends are cats.

Personality: Bayley is a terrific guy -- very smart, loving and playful.

Ideal Home: Bayley ideally would love some cats to play with and some people to care for him for the rest of his life. We don't think that's too much to ask.

To Adopt: If interested in adopting Bayley, please contact the Ohio County Animal Shelter (in Rising Sun, Indiana) by e-mailing Amy4448@hotmail.com or calling the shelter phone number 812-438-9220. You can also visit their website at www.ocas.petfinder.com for more pics. His adoption fee is only $15.

Carter - ADOPTED!

Carter Background: Carter is a cute, young dog that was picked up as a stray from LaGrange. He loves giving lots and lots of sweet puppy kisses, and is just looking for a family to bring some love and stability into his life. If you're looking for a sweet, active guy to spend time with during these last "dog days of summer," take a look at Carter.

Gender: Male

Breed: Yellow Lab Mix

Approximate Age: 12 months

Spay/Neuter Status: Yes, Carter is already neutered!

Vaccinations: Yes, Carter is up-to-date on all his vaccines!

Housetrained: Carter is currently working on his housetraining, but this cutie should master it in no time!

Compatibility With Children: Yes, Carter would do VERY well with children.

Compatibility With Other Pets: Yes, Carter does very well with other dogs. However, he has not been exposed to cats, so we're not sure how he'd do with them.

Personality: Carter is an active, sweet dog who LOVES to give lots and lots of puppy kisses. He just loves to run and play with kids and other dogs.

Ideal Home: Carter's ideal home would be with a family that can give time and training to this sweet boy. He just needs some consistency and obedience. He is already a good dog. :-)

To Adopt: If interested in adopting Carter, please contact Love Of Labs, Indiana (based in Noblesville) at 317-727-7392 (Linda) or go to www.lolin.org, click on "How to Adopt," and e-mail lolin@insightbb.com for an adoption application.

Sophia - ADOPTED!

Sophia Background: Sophia is a big four-paw declawed, eight year old calico sweetie! She came to the Animal Protection Association (in Jeffersonville) with her "sister" Stella when her owner married a woman who became highly allergic; they tried to make it work but to no avail. They were broken-hearted to give up their little girls, but they want only the best for them and hope they're placed with a family who will love them as much as they have. Please help us find a loving forever home for this sweet girl!

Gender: Female

Breed: Calico

Approximate Age: 8 years old, but with a lot of life in her!

Spay/Neuter Status: Yes, Sophia has been spayed!

Vaccinations: Yes, Sophia is up-to-date on her vaccinations, and is negative for FIV/FeLeuk. Sophia is a bit of a "chunky monkey," but she's otherwise healthy.

Housetrained: Yes, Sophia is house-broken!

Compatibility With Children: Sophia would probably do best with older children.

Compatibility With Other Pets: Sophia gets along fine with other dogs and cats.

Personality: Sophia has a great purr-sonality, and will do well once she's gotten used to her surroundings.

Ideal Home: Sophia is just looking for a new home that'll love her, as she has been for her entire life. She's a sweet, wonderful girl, looking for a second-chance.

To Adopt: If interested in adopting Sophia, please contact the Animal Protection Association (APA) of Jeffersonville, Indiana by calling 812-283-6555 to set up an appointment You can visit APA online at: www.apa-pets.org

Kitty

Rushville KittyA nameless kitten awaits adoption at the Rushville Animal Shelter - time is so limited for animals at the shelter, according to volunteer Jaime Glandon, that there would be little point in publicizing the kitten's name, as the teeny agency may have to euthanize her by the time a potential adopter calls. Glandon says fewer than 7% of the animals at the shelter are adopted.

For more information: If interested in adopting a dog or cat from the Rushville Animal Shelter, please visit their website at www.petfinder.org/shelters/IN320.html.
